The Greater Good

Here’s an insight into our environmental, societal and governance policies

An Introduction

Our ESG strategy empowers us to grow, while positively impacting our people, the environment, and society. Responsibility is at the core of sustainability, which is why we joined the global efforts to curb emissions, increase energy efficiency, and decentralise energy markets.

Hyphen’s policies are spread throughout the organisational chain, from the board through to company, and asset level.

We are guided by the Ten Principles of the UN Global Compact, which include human rights, labour, environment and anti-corruption. In addition to this, Hyphen is actively contributing to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) outlined by the UN.

Environment

Hyphen is a renewable energy developer and operator. We harness the power of the sun and wind, meaning all our installations are green and sustainable.

With climate change being one of the key dangers we are facing, the shift to renewable energy has never been so urgent.

Renewable energy projects are environmentally sustainable, but there remains some footprint. At Hyphen, we implement mitigation activities to minimise this by optimising water usage, maintaining clean air levels, eliminating hazardous material, and managing waste.

During the development phase, extensive studies are done to ensure the area is compatible, the landscape is maintained during construction, operation and decommissioning. After decommissioning, the land will be rehabilitated.

Society

The 10 principles set out by the UN Global Compact which include human rights, labour, the environment and anti-corruption. Hyphen also supports the UK Modern Slavery Act 2015 which prevents slavery, human trafficking in the company and the supply chain.

We are committed to our employee’s well-being and provide calculated leniency in internal affairs. This also entails flexible working conditions as suited for our employees and other benefits.

Hyphen works to create ties with local communities and ensuring their engagement. Those are primarily managed through local authorities who represent the interests of nearby stakeholders.

We also ensure that no human rights are violated by providers and condemns the use of forced, exploitative, underage, or illegal labour.

Governance

At the core of sustainable practice is those who monitor, implement and update it. To lead by example, Hyphen’s management, directors and employees will continuously implement sensible governance.

We always seek to be responsible, accountable and compliant with laws and regulations. Our code of conduct is binding, and we have set the proper systems to monitor and adjust.

Throughout the ownership of a project, Hyphen will monitor the impacts of its activities on and off-site. Stakeholders will be provided with reporting mechanisms for monitoring and evaluation.

We are committed to compliance to policies, including but not limited to: Anti-Bribery and Anti-Corruption, Sanctions, Code of Conduct.
